Under an international open tender agreement, a vessel named MV HT Unity arrived at Chattogram Port on Thursday, carrying 10,850 metric tons of parboiled rice from India, the Food Ministry announced in a press release.
According to the statement, samples of the imported rice have been tested, and unloading operations are expected to begin soon, with necessary preparations in place.
The ministry further stated that Bangladesh has decided to import 500,000 metric tons of rice from India under this agreement. Contracts for 450,000 metric tons have already been finalized across nine packages, with 306,769 metric tons having arrived so far.
