A total of 119 officers, who were reportedly sidelined during the tenure of the ousted Awami League government, have been promoted to the position of secretary. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday.
The order, which was signed by Miya Muhammad Ashraf Reza Farid, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, was approved by the President. The promotion entitles the officers to financial benefits based on their eligibility, with payments being adjusted accordingly. They will receive 50% of their pending dues in the current fiscal year and the rest in the following fiscal year (2025-26). These officials will also be considered special duty officers until they reach the age of 57 or 59.
Liberty News’ national correspondent states that any prior orders for PRL/LPR have been canceled, and the officers will receive their entitled benefits such as back pay and pensions, with adjustments to their final salary based on any retirement leave taken. The decree is effective immediately in the interest of public welfare.
