Two passengers were detained at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet on Thursday morning after 17.5 kilograms of gold were found hidden in their luggage.

Liberty News’ crime correspondent states that the suspects, Saeed Ahmed from Moulvibazar and Abtab Uddin from Jaintapur, Silet, had concealed the gold inside charger fans and light batteries using a special method. The gold was discovered after an investigation by the National Security Intelligence (NSI). The two had flown in on Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-252 from Sharjah, UAE. Upon landing, the luggage was initially not detected during routine screening but was later found when the NSI team thoroughly inspected their bags. The gold included 120 bars and four balls, totaling 17.5 kg. The customs authorities at the airport will file a case against the suspects.
