They were transported under heavy security from Keraniganj, Kashimpur and other prisons and presented at the tribunal around 9:45am. Police escorted them one by one into the courtroom lockup.

The accused include former law minister Anisul Huq, former education minister Dipu Moni, former ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, former food minister Qamrul Islam, former agriculture minister Abdur Razzaque, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon, JASAD president and former information minister Hasanul Haq Inu, former justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, former home secretary Jahangir Alam, former PM’s advisers Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Salman F Rahman, and several former MPs.

The tribunal has already accepted separate formal charges against Salman Rahman, Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haq Inu and Palak. Testimony is under way in Inu’s case. The tribunal has also taken cognisance of charges against Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Palak over the internet shutdown during the July uprising, issuing an arrest warrant for Joy.
