The government on Monday suspended 18 police officers, including former Dhaka city detective chief Harun-or-Rashid, for being absent from duties.

They would continue to get livelihood allowance, said a notification issued in this regard by the Home Ministry’s Public Security Division.

The officers targeted in the order also include three deputy inspector generals (DIG), six additional inspector generals (Addl DIG), four superintendents, and one assistant superintendent.

Home Ministry Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani signed the notification ordered by the president.

The notification said that the officers have been suspended since the day they have remained absent without authorization under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
