2 killed in truck-bus collision in Brahmanbaria

Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a head-on collision between a truck and a passenger bus on the Comilla-Sylhet highway in the Kuti area of Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria.

The deceased were identified as Akash, son of Rohis Mia from Charchartola village in Ashuganj upazila, Brahmanbaria, and Amir Hossain (34), son of Anisur Rahman from Muradnagar upazila in Comilla.

According to police and local sources, a Siyam Paribahan passenger bus was traveling from Chattogram to Brahmanbaria when it collided with an oncoming coal-laden truck. The front parts of both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.

Amir Hossain, the coal owner traveling in the truck, died on the spot. Truck driver Akash sustained critical injuries and later died while being transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Md. Mamunur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Sarail-Khatihata Highway Police Station, said police recovered Amir’s body and sent it to the district hospital morgue for autopsy. Both the truck and the bus involved in the accident were seized, and legal procedures are currently underway.
