Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly pushed in 23 people through the Kushkhali border in Satkhira early Tuesday morning, though their identities and citizenship have yet to be confirmed.
The incident took place around 5:30 AM in Satkhira Sadar upazila’s Kushkhali border area, confirmed Subedar Mezbha Uddin, commander of Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB) Kushkhali BOP.
“We have detained the 23 individuals pushed in through the border. After primary interrogation, they were sent to the 33 BGB Battalion Headquarters in Satkhira,” said the BGB officer.
According to sources from the 33 Battalion headquarters, the process of verifying the identities of the detainees is currently underway. Authorities are also investigating whether any women or children are among them and how they entered India in the first place.
As of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by the BGB regarding the incident.
