3.5 magnitude quake jolts Jashore

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted Jashore and its adjoining areas on Saturday afternoon.

The tremor was felt at 2:27pm, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a bulletin.

The epicentre of the “minor” category quake was in the district’s Manirampur upazila, 157km southwest of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka, read the bulletin.

This was the third earthquake Bangladesh experienced this month.

On 14 September, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Assam in India, which was also felt in Bangladesh, while on 21 September, a 4.0-magnitude tremor struck Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj.
