35,000 metric tons of rice arrive from India and Vietnam

Two ships carrying a total of 35,000 metric tons of rice from India and Vietnam have arrived at the Port of Chittagong, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Food.

The announcement, signed by Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Imdad Islam, was made on Sunday.

The press release stated that, through an open tender, 22,500 metric tons of parboiled rice from India and 12,500 metric tons of white rice from Vietnam have been delivered to the port.

Liberty News’ economic correspondent states that it is worth mentioning that Bangladesh has signed a government-to-government (G2G) agreement with Vietnam to import a total of 100,000 metric tons of rice. Out of this, 17,800 metric tons of rice from the first consignment have already arrived in the country.
