4 brick kilns in Kalmakanda fined Tk 7.5 lakh

The Department of Environment conducted an operation against illegal brick kilns in Kalmakanda, Netrokona. During the operation, a mobile court fined four brick kilns a total of 750,000 taka. Additionally, one kiln and its chimney were destroyed.

The operation took place from morning to evening on Sunday at various locations in the upazila. The Department of Environment issued a press release about the matter on Monday morning.

According to the notice signed by the Assistant Director of the Department of Environment in Netrokona, Mohammad Abdullah Al Matin, the operation was conducted after receiving reports of illegal kiln operations in Kalmakanda. The owners of MPB Co. Bricks were fined 150,000 taka, while the owners of PMR Bricks, PCB Bricks, Jonota Bricks were each fined 200,000 taka. The chimney and kiln of Srijon Bricks were destroyed.

The operation was led by the Department of Environment’s magistrate, Mohammad Rezwan-ul-Islam.
