At least four people were killed and 20 others injured as a passenger bus rammed into a parked truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram Sunday evening.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Sitakunda Fire Service Station in-charge Belal Hossain confirmed the number of casualties.
Sources said the accident occurred when the bus lost control and hit the truck that remained parked on the highway in the Battali area around 6pm.
On information, a team from the Sitakunda Fire Station rushed to the scene.
“We found four bodies and rescued 20 injured passengers from the spot. They were sent to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex,” Belal said.
Dr Mohammad Imran, a physician at the emergency department of the health complex, said 12 of the injured were referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for better treatment.
