Four people were killed and at least three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Dinajpur’s Birganj upazila on Monday morning.
The fatal accident occurred around 7:00 am on the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon highway near Bablu Farm. According to police, a Rangpur-bound microbus from Thakurgaon collided with an oncoming cement-laden truck.
Among the deceased are microbus driver Arif Hossain Manik and passenger Md Delwar Hossain. The identities of the other victims were not immediately confirmed, but all four are believed to be residents of Thakurgaon district.
Two people, including the driver, died on the spot, while five others were seriously injured. Locals rushed to the scene and helped transport the injured to Thakurgaon Hospital, where two more victims later died.
The collision temporarily halted traffic on the highway. Police and fire service teams arrived quickly, carried out rescue operations, and restored normal traffic flow.
Birganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Gafur confirmed the incident and the number of casualties.
