Forty-eight SSC examinees under the Jashore Education Board, initially marked as failed in Chemistry due to an administrative error, have now been declared passed following a revision of their results. Many of these students secured GPA-5 after the correction.

The mistake occurred at the Pulerhat Secondary School exam centre in Jashore Sadar upazila, where 329 students from six schools took the SSC exams this year. All 48 science students were wrongly shown as failed in Chemistry because their practical marks were not added to the final results.

The error was discovered after teachers reviewed the results and found no student had passed Chemistry. Upon inquiry, the exam centre secretary contacted the board, which confirmed the omission of practical scores.

Revised results published on Sunday corrected the oversight, showing the students passed Chemistry with several achieving top grades.

One student, Miaraj Islam from Sarapole Secondary School, expressed relief: “I had GPA-5 in eight subjects and an A in one, but was shown as failed in Chemistry. My family was devastated. Now I have got GPA-5, everyone is happy.”

Jashore Board Exam Controller Abdul Matin blamed the incomplete results on the exam centre’s failure to submit practical marks and promised disciplinary action against those responsible, including the centre secretary.
