Five people were killed and another one was seriously injured in a crash between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a pickup truck in Betbunia area of Kaukhali in Rangamati on Saturday morning.
According to police and locals, the accident occurred around 10:30 am in the Mango Garden area of Betbunia Union under Kaukhali Upazila, on the Rangamati-Chittagong road.
A pickup truck collided head-on with a CNG auto-rickshaw traveling toward Chittagong, killing five people instantly and severely injuring one.
The victims’ identities were not immediately known. Locals transported the deceased and injured to Rangamati General Hospital.
Kaukhali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Saiful Islam Sohag, confirmed the five deaths and one injury.
Liberty News’ local correspondent reports that Police and fire services rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to Rangamati General Hospital.
