6 people (specific), including 2 women and 1 UP member along with 9/10 unidentified people were accused in the murder case filed at Gournadi Police Station. The victim was Safwan Shikder, only 5 years old. Local sources told Liberty News that the young boy was visiting his grandparents’ home when the gruesome murder took place.
Around 12 p.m. on Friday, the murder case was filed by the deceased’s father, Imran Shikder, of Madhya Hosnabad village in the upazila.
Four suspects—two ladies and a local UP member—who were listed in the case’s complaint have been taken into custody by the police. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yunus Mia of the Gournadi Police Station attested to this.
He stated that in the murder case of kid Safwan Sikder, Roman Chowdhury, his wife Akhi Begum, sister Rabina Begum, also known as Labina Begum, and Sharikal UP member Mozammel Haque Chowdhury of the same household have been detained.
According to him, Roman Chowdhury, his wife Akhi Begum, sister Rabina Begum, also known as Labina Begum, and Sharikal UP member Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, who lived in the same home, have all been taken into custody on suspicion of killing toddler Safwan Sikder.
The judge ordered the four accused, including the two ladies who were arrested, to be put to jail after they were turned over to the Barishal Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at approximately 2:30 pm on Friday. Mahbub Alam, the Gournadi Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) and the case’s investigating officer, has requested that the four defendants be remanded for five days.
It is noteworthy that on Wednesday afternoon, Safwan Shikder, who had traveled from Dhaka to visit his grandfather’s home in Madhya Hosnabad village in the upazila, vanished while playing.
On Thursday morning, sixteen hours after Safwan’s disappearance, police found his lifeless body by the side of the road next to Manna Bepari’s home in the same village.
