As its conflict with Iran escalates, Israel has continued deadly strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 51 people and injuring 104 others in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The latest casualties bring the total number of Palestinians killed since Israel’s war began in October 2023 to at least 55,959, with more than 131,000 others wounded.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Gaza City, Hani Mahmoud, reported that Israeli air raids have focused on Khan Younis in the south, central areas, and Gaza City in the north.
He added that many in Gaza believe Israel is using its military standoff with Iran as a distraction to intensify its operations in the besieged Palestinian territory.
