On Saturday evening, Inamul Haq Sagar, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (Media and PR), confirmed the arrests, stating that the operation had led to significant detentions. Among those apprehended, 569 were arrested within the last 24 hours, while a total of 1,231 arrests have been made in connection with this operation and other related campaigns.
As part of the operation, authorities have recovered weapons and materials, including two single-barrel guns, 10 rounds of ammunition, 62 grams of gunpowder, three knives, a machete, a sword, two iron rods, and a stick.
Liberty News’ crime correspondent states that Operation Devil Hunt, which began on February 8, is a special law enforcement campaign initiated in response to a violent attack on students in Gazipur on February 7 by alleged ruling party goons. The attack led to casualties and worsened the law and order situation. Following the incident, the Ministry of Home Affairs, security agencies, and other relevant authorities held meetings to strengthen the country’s overall security, leading to the launch of the nationwide operation.
