At least 59 Palestinians were killed Saturday in the Gaza Strip — 31 fatally shot near an aid distribution site and 28 others in Israeli airstrikes, including four children, according to local hospital officials and eyewitnesses.

The shootings occurred near a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution center in Rafah. The Red Cross reported over 100 injured, mostly with gunshot wounds. Witnesses allege Israeli tanks opened fire on civilians gathering for food; Israel claimed it only fired warning shots at people behaving “suspiciously” and was unaware of casualties.

Airstrikes also struck Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis, killing at least 28 more, as bombardments continued across Gaza.

The conflict, which began in October 2023 following a deadly Hamas attack on Israel, has displaced millions and caused a humanitarian crisis. Israel’s offensive has now killed over 57,800 people, per Gaza’s Health Ministry. The World Health Organization and UN agencies say food, aid, and fuel remain critically restricted.

Amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations, no breakthrough has yet been reported. Meanwhile, public anger and protests continue in Israel, demanding an end to the war and a deal for the remaining hostages.
