8,600 pilgrims return to Bangladesh after Hajj

A total of 8,606 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia in the first two days following Hajj. Among them, 837 returned under government management and 7,769 under private arrangements, according to the Hajj Portal’s daily bulletin on Thursday (June 12).

Return flights began on Tuesday (June 10). By midnight Wednesday, 1,409 pilgrims had returned via 4 Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights, 3,185 on 8 Saudia flights, and 4,012 on 10 Flynas flights. The return flights will continue until July 10.

This year, a total of 87,157 Bangladeshi pilgrims, including support staff, traveled to Saudi Arabia through 224 flights from three airlines: Biman Bangladesh Airlines (108 flights), Saudia (83 flights), and Flynas (33 flights).

So far, 23 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while performing Hajj—21 men and 2 women. Of them, 15 died in Makkah, 7 in Madinah, and 1 in Arafat. Currently, 23 pilgrims are undergoing treatment in Saudi hospitals, and a total of 193 pilgrims have received medical care so far.
