Ukraine needs peace along with strong security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized the need for peace in his country, stating that it must be supported by “strong security guarantees.” According to Zelensky, peace is essential for Ukraine, but it must come with solid assurances of security.

Zelensky further stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the only person still interested in continuing the war. This information was reported by Anadolu Agency on Sunday, March 2.

Ahead of a high-level summit on Ukraine in London, President Zelensky, after bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, shared on social media platform X that the two leaders are “working to create a joint action plan to end the war through a just and lasting peace.”

He stated, “Apart from (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, no one else is interested in continuing the war and a rapid return to conflict. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain unity around Ukraine ,strengthen our position through cooperation with our allies — European countries & United States.”

Zelensky attended a Ukraine-focused summit on Sunday, organized by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with the participation of many European leaders. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also attended the summit on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
