A devastating fire in Patuakhali has engulfed five residential houses and two business establishments, leaving them completely destroyed. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in the Monsa Temple area on Jubilee School Road.
Upon receiving the alert, four fire service units quickly arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, brought the fire under control. In addition to the fire service, Sadar Police, Ansar VDP, Red Crescent, fire service committee volunteers, local volunteers participated in the efforts. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
The affected individuals include Jayantu Roy (30), Nirmal Kormakar (60), Ripon Kormakar (46), Dhiman Kormakar (51), Babul Chandra Shil (50), and Bikash Chandra Das (45). Additionally, two businesses, Nikunj Sona Ghar and Shyamal Art, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
Local resident Sujan Kumar Das remarked, “I have never seen such a devastating fire before. In an instant, the flames spread in all directions. If the fire service hadn’t arrived so quickly, the damage could have been much worse.”
Babul Chandra Shil, who lost everything in the fire, expressed his grief through his daughter, Arpita Rani Shil. She said, “This fire has destroyed everything we had. Our dreams, our shelter, everything has turned to ashes. We don’t even know how to rebuild.”
Md. Mustafa Mohsin, Assistant Director of Patuakhali Fire Service and Civil Defense, stated, “The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. However, investigations are underway, efforts to compile a list of the affected families are ongoing.
