BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Zainul Abdin Faruq has accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of exploiting the Rohingya crisis for financial gain. He made this remark on Friday at a protest rally organized by the Bangladesh Citizens’ Rights Movement in front of the National Press Club.
Addressing the Chief Adviser, Faruq said, “Tell the UN Secretary-General that Sheikh Hasina has used the Rohingya crisis for political gain and financial profit. Also, let him know that Tarique Rahman and Khaleda Zia have nothing to lose.”
Criticizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he stated, “If you truly cared about the people of Bangladesh, you would never support a fascist like Hasina. We will no longer tolerate India’s conspiracies against Bangladesh. Hasina has turned our country into a desert to serve India’s interests. Justice will be served for all of Hasina’s misdeeds on this land.”
He further added, “If the future government, born from our hard-earned independence, follows in Hasina’s footsteps and imposes fascism, we will never accept it. We will take to the streets and fight once again.”
Liberty News’ political correspondent states that the event was presided over by the organization’s president, M Jahangir Alam. Other speakers included BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, Fisheries Affairs Member Ismail Hossain Siraji, and several leaders of the organization.
