UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed strong condemnation over Israel’s recent airstrikes in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths of over 400 Palestinians. Guterres called for the restoration of the ceasefire and the immediate release of detainees.

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has voiced his anger and concern over Israel’s brutal airstrikes on Gaza, which resumed on March 18, 2025, after a temporary ceasefire was broken. The airstrikes have claimed the lives of at least 404 Palestinians, with the death toll expected to rise. In addition to the fatalities, over 500 individuals have been injured, with the majority of casualties being women and children.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Guterres strongly urged Israel to adhere to the ceasefire, ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and demand the unconditional release of the remaining detainees. His call reflects growing international frustration with the ongoing violence and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that many countries and humanitarian organizations around the world have condemned Israel’s actions, calling the bombings in Gaza a violation of international law and human rights. The UN Secretary-General’s statement comes at a time when the global community is increasingly alarmed by the escalating violence and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
