Amid ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza, protests erupted across the capital and different parts of the country on Friday, following the Jumu’ah prayers. Islamist organizations, political parties, and student groups staged demonstrations, condemning Israel’s brutal offensive and urging global intervention to halt the violence.

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Dhaka Metropolitan unit organized a protest rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jumu’ah prayers. Although they had planned a procession, concerns over large gatherings and potential chaos led the organizers to limit the event to a rally.

Security forces, including police and military personnel, were deployed in the surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incidents.

Prominent Hefazat leaders, including Dhaka Metropolitan President Maulana Junaid Al Habib, Secretary Maulana Mamunul Haque, Joint Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, and Financial Secretary Monir Hossain Qasemi, addressed the gathering. They denounced the Israeli attacks, labeling them as a massacre against innocent Muslims.

During the rally, Maulana Mamunul Haque called on the Bangladesh government to play a stronger role in supporting Palestine. He suggested that Dr. Muhammad Yunus, due to his international stature, could take an initiative to bring global attention to the issue.

In a separate demonstration at Paltan, Khilafat Majlis also organized a protest march and rally. The party’s Naib-e-Amir, Maulana Ahmed Ali Qasemi, condemned Israel’s violations of the ceasefire agreement, accusing the country of waging a systematic genocide against Palestinians. He urged the United Nations, OIC, and other international bodies to take firm action against Israel.

Additionally, various religious groups staged protests across the country, including in Pakundia and Bhurungamari. In Pakundia, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement led a demonstration, calling for global leaders to intervene. In Bhurungamari, the protest was organized under the banner of Tawhidi Janata, where speakers denounced Israel’s airstrikes and demanded international action to end the massacre.

The opposition party BNP also expressed deep concern over the attacks. In a statement, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned the violence, describing Gaza as a “slaughterhouse” due to Israel’s relentless bombardment. He urged the global community to take immediate action to stop the bloodshed.

At the Islamic University (IU), hundreds of students held a protest march, criticizing Western nations for their silence on Israeli atrocities.

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that the demonstrations across the country reflected strong solidarity with Palestine, as protesters chanted slogans demanding justice and an end to Israeli aggression.
