Malaysia’s Immigration Department has detained 506 undocumented foreign workers, including 155 Bangladeshis, during a raid in the Bukit Bintang area of Kuala Lumpur.
The operation, conducted on Thursday night at Jalan Imbi, involved 185 officers. According to Immigration Director General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, the raid targeted tourism and nightlife hotspots.
Besides the Bangladeshis, 142 Nepalis and 109 Indonesians were among the detainees, along with Indian and Sri Lankan nationals.
Zakaria further revealed that from January 2025 to April 16, over 38,000 operations were carried out, during which 22,486 undocumented workers were arrested. Additionally, 491 employers were detained for sheltering illegal migrants.
