At least five people, including four students, were injured in a violent clash between Dhaka College and City College students in the capital on Tuesday.

The injured were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around noon following the incident. Among the injured are Nazmus Sakib (18), Rajin (18) from Dhaka College, Shamim (18) from City College, and Siam (17), whose institutional affiliation remains unknown. A local shop employee from Chandrima Market, Sunny (30), was also hurt during the altercation.

According to a Dhaka College student, who wished to remain anonymous, the clash was likely a retaliation for an incident the previous day in which City College students allegedly assaulted some Dhaka College students. The video footage of that incident had circulated widely on social media.

The Tuesday conflict reportedly escalated when a group of Dhaka College students stormed City College premises around 11:45 am, vandalizing parts of the campus.

DMCH police camp in-charge Inspector Md. Faruk confirmed the incident, stating that all five victims sustained head injuries and were receiving treatment at the hospital’s emergency unit.

Authorities have yet to comment on further disciplinary or legal actions regarding the incident.
