National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has warned of a renewed ‘March to Dhaka’ campaign if immediate action is not taken to meet demands, despite ongoing blockades in the capital.
In a Facebook post published around 8:00 PM on Friday, Nahid Islam stated that the Shahbagh sit-in would continue and hinted at launching a strict nationwide march towards Dhaka if decisions were not made swiftly by authorities.
“The blockade is already in place across various parts of Dhaka. If no clear steps are taken soon, the entire country will march again to Dhaka,” he wrote, signaling a potential escalation in political agitation.
The former interim government advisor stressed unity across all factions to stand against what he described as anti-sovereignty, anti-democracy, anti-Islam, and fascist elements of the Awami League. He called for a national alliance of all “pro-Bangladesh” forces to push for the party’s ban.
Referencing the historic 2024 anti-discrimination student movement, which led to the downfall of the Awami League through a similar ‘March to Dhaka,’ Nahid implied that history could repeat itself if the public’s demands are ignored.
He emphasized that all July-aligned forces, regardless of political affiliation, must remain united in the ongoing fight for sovereignty and justice.
