Demonstrators at Shahbagh have issued a one-hour ultimatum demanding a ban on the Awami League following its fall during the July uprising, threatening to besiege the Chief Advisor’s residence if unmet.

At around 8 PM on Saturday, key organizers from the ongoing movement—Hasnat Abdullah of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) South Division and Sharif Osman Hadi of Inqilab Mancha—delivered the ultimatum during a mass gathering at Shahbagh.

Hasnat Abdullah announced that protestors would begin a blockade from Shahbagh to Banglamotor within moments, followed by a possible march toward the residence of Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, depending on the government’s response.

Sharif Osman Hadi warned that if the Awami League and its affiliated bodies are not banned within the next hour, tougher actions will be launched.

Meanwhile, the interim government’s advisory council is set to hold an emergency meeting this evening at the Chief Advisor’s Office, where sources suggest the demand to ban the Awami League and other recent developments will be discussed.
