Boosted by a dominant victory in the first T20I, Bangladesh will aim to seal the series against the UAE in the second and final match tonight at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium.
The Tigers lead the two-match T20I series 1–0 following a commanding performance powered by Parvez Hossain Emon’s explosive batting. With the series on the line, the second game kicks off at 9 PM Bangladesh time.
However, Bangladesh will miss key pacer Mustafizur Rahman due to injury, making at least one change in the playing XI inevitable. Young fast bowler Nahid Rana is likely to be his replacement. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is also in contention for a spot in the XI. Both players were rested in the previous game after being delayed at the UAE airport for nearly two and a half days due to visa complications.
Opener Tanzid Tamim, who failed to impress in the first game, might be replaced by either Soumya Sarkar or Najmul Hossain Shanto. Overall, Bangladesh are expected to stick with a largely unchanged side as they chase back-to-back T20I series wins, having whitewashed the West Indies in their own backyard last November–December.
Meanwhile, hosts UAE face a must-win situation to level the series. They are likely to make changes to address their middle-order failures from the first match. Whether those adjustments will be enough to turn the tide remains to be seen.
