Abdur Rahman Khan, chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has warned that those who have violated the rules by staging demonstrations at the central tax administration will face the consequences.
“NBR officials have no reason to be afraid, but those who exceeded their limits will be dealt with differently,” he made the comments while talking to reporters at his office in Dhaka on Monday.
There is no reason to be afraid for those who will be serving their respective responsibilities appropriately, upholding their professionalism, said the NBR chairman.
He said that the NBR collected a total of Tk 3,68,177 crore revenue during the last fiscal year as of 30 June and expressed his hope that the amount will be more than this after the final counting.
The overall activities at all the custom houses are going on smoothly as normalcy returned to the central tax administration, he said.
He also called upon all staff and officials of the NBR to work with dedication for the greater interest of the state, ignoring their personal or petty interest.
Sounding a note of caution against corruption, the NBR chairman said the officials involved in corruption will not be spared and the law will take its own course against them.
