National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has urged the government to publish accurate information, including casualties in the tragic crash of a fighter plane at Milestone School and College in Uttara area of Dhaka on Monday.
“A complaint of disappearing bodies of students has been raised since last night. The government, in connivance with the school authorities, could have published authentic information in this regard,” he said.
The government must publish and disseminate accurate information, as there is a lot of confusion relating to the accident, Nahid said while addressing a press conference at the party’s Banglamotor head office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The students are enraged, so it is crucial for the government to disclose and circulate all available truthful information to prevent disinformation, Nahid, also a former adviser of the interim government, said during the press conference.
Nahid blasted the government for its action against the agitating students and said it could have acted more humanely and responsibly to take the overall situation that evolved following the plane crash under control.
The NCP boss also came down hard on Education Adviser Prof CR Abrar for not swiftly taking a decision on suspending today’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in the wake of the Uttara plane crash.
“Other advisers phoned the education adviser, but he did not respond in time. Eventually, he decided to suspend the HSC examination at 3 am today,” Nahid said.
Such a lack of coordination among the advisers triggered unrest among the students, he said and extended his all-out support to the six-point demand raised by the students of Milestone School and College.
