BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Saturday said good politics must be practised to prevent the resurgence of fascism.
He made the remark at a football match organised by the BNP’s Dhaka metropolitan north and south units, to mark the party’s 47th founding anniversary.
Salahuddin said the BNP wants to bring about a positive change in the country’s political culture.
As part of this, the party has organised public-friendly programmes such as cleaning canals and drains, as well as a football match, so that the people do not face any suffering, he said.
“To ensure that fascism does not rise again, we must practise good politics and avoid authoritarian attitudes.”
Mentioning that effective reforms cannot be achieved merely by changing laws or the constitution, he said change must come through psychological transformation and tolerance.
