The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal-backed vice-president candidate, Abidul Islam Khan, has rejected the results of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls over allegations of vote rigging.
“This result of planned manipulation was anticipated shortly after noon,” Abidul said in a Facebook post in the early hours of Wednesday.
“Adjust the numbers as you wish. I reject this planned farce,” he added.
Abidul made the announcement around one hour after the results started being declared shortly after 1:30am.
According to election results from different halls, Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed vice-president candidate Abu Shadik Kayem was leading the DUCSU polls.
Meanwhile, Swatantra Shikkharthi Oikya (Independent Students’ Unity) panel vice-president candidate Umama Fatema announced to boycott the DUCSU, describing the polls as “utterly shamelessly manipulated.”
