The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) successfully concluded the inaugural Level 3 coaching course on Friday.
The closing ceremony was attended by BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, Game Development Program Coordinator Habibul Bashar, Director Najmul Abedin Fahim, and Iftikhar Rahman Mithu.
The five-day residential program featured an expert panel of national and international coaches, including Ross Turner, Alan Campbell, Geoff Lawson, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Natasha Campbell, who shared their knowledge on global cricket development and high-performance coaching.
BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul highlighted the importance of the initiative in bridging a longstanding gap in Bangladesh’s coaching structure.
“There has never been a Level 3 coaching course here, but many Level 2 coaches had been waiting for a pathway to the next level,” Bulbul said. “We identified coaches working with BCB as well as those abroad who could benefit from this program.”
He explained that the course is designed not only to enhance the skills of high-performance coaches but also to familiarize them with contemporary cricket techniques. The program includes a residential component as well as a 90-day project-based phase, after which participants’ results will determine their Level 3 qualifications.
Bulbul, who also served as a lecturer during the course, said the program is part of a broader decentralization and education initiative.
“We already have experts like Simon Taufel for umpire training and Tony for curator education. The plan is to create an education team that can conduct coaching, umpire, and curator courses nationwide,” he said. “Coaches who complete this Level 3 course will eventually be qualified to conduct Level 2 courses across the divisions under our decentralization program.”
