The severity of winter is increasing steadily in Panchagarh. Over the past few days, chilly winds and high humidity from dawn until morning have made the cold severe across the district.
At 6am on Sunday, the Tetulia Meteorological Observatory recorded the day’s lowest temperature at 12.6°C. Humidity stood at 97 percent, though visibility remained normal due to the absence of dense fog. Despite bright sunlight later in the morning, the combination of high humidity and cold winds has made the chill feel sharper.
On Saturday at the same time, Tetulia recorded a minimum temperature of 14.7°C with 99 percent humidity. Although sunlight is visible during the day, the sharp difference between day and night temperatures has intensified the cold from evening through to the morning.
Cold winds have been sweeping across Debiganj, Boda, Atwari, Panchagarh Sadar and the entire district from the early hours. Locals reported that the sudden fall in temperature has made the cold more pronounced.
Jitendranath Roy, a meteorologist at the Tetulia Observatory, said that while the minimum temperature had been hovering around 14°C over the past week, it fell further on Sunday.
He added that temperatures are expected to drop even more in the coming week, with winter likely to firmly set in across the northern region from early December.
