The press secretary of the chief adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has referred to the former home minister of the ousted Awami League government, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, as the “Butcher of Bangladesh.” He further stated, “Small children, students, workers, farmers, and rickshaw-pullers in the country were ruthlessly killed, and he was one of the butchers. Kamal is the butcher of Bangladesh. The media that cover him and report his news show their true quality.”
The press secretary made this comment in reference to an interview given by Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to an Indian media outlet.
Shafiqul Alam referred to the broadcast of his interview in the media as a major international propaganda campaign. He further stated that no one in the world would provide a platform (media coverage) to a butcher.
On Sunday, Shafiqul Alam made this statement during a media briefing held at Hair Road in the capital, regarding Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s visit to Davos, Switzerland.
Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent reports that The Chief Advisor visited Davos from January 21 to 24 to attend the annual conference of the World Economic Forum. He returned to the country yesterday.
