Lalmonirhat : Attempted robbery of Sonali Bank, tunnel dug

Criminals attempted to rob a branch of Sonali Bank in Lalmonirhat by digging a tunnel. However, the criminals fled when people noticed.

The incident occurred at around 1 AM on Monday, January 27, at the Sonali Bank branch in Barobari Sadar Upazila. Howeve the military, police and bank authorities are investigating whether any money was stolen from the bank.

Locals reported that criminals attempted to enter the bank by digging a tunnel under the back wall of the bank. However, when a bank peon noticed and screamed, people from the nearby area rushed to the scene. This caused the robbers to flee. The police station mentioned that the bank authorities, along with the police and military, are investigating whether any money or other items were stolen from the bank.

The Chairman of Barobari Union Parishad, Nazmul Huda Limon, stated that the bank authorities, police, and military are investigating to determine whether any money or other items have been stolen from the bank.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, Mohammad Nur Nabi, told Liberty News that an investigation is underway. Detailed information will be provided once the investigation is complete.
