BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused the interim government of turning all educational institutions in the country into Jamaat strongholds, asserting that key positions in major universities have been filled by Jamaat members.

During an event organized by the Diploma Engineers Association in Bangladesh (DEAB) at the National Press Club on Tuesday, Rizvi claimed that the current government has systematically taken control of educational institutions, placing Jamaat members in important leadership roles at universities such as Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Chittagong.

Rizvi also noted that while the 1/11 government was called a “military-backed government,” the current government, which he described as a “party-supported government,” has gone further by influencing the education sector.

He mentioned how the Ministry of Education has been taken over by a specific political party, calling the situation alarming for the country’s academic integrity. Rizvi also criticized the government for bypassing qualified individuals and appointing loyalists of the ruling party, citing the example of an engineering department where a less qualified individual was appointed as the Chief Engineer due to party affiliation.

Liberty News’ political correspondent states he further pointed out that fascist elements within the administration continue to serve the agenda of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
