Two Indian women cricketers wait at the boundary with the national flag in hand, ready to celebrate their supremacy on the world cricket stage. The moment Indian batter Sonika Chalke struck the winning boundary, the two cricketers sprinted towards her, embracing teammates Sonika and Gongadi Trisha in jubilation.

Then began the celebration of the entire Indian team. After all, they had just won the U-19 T20 World Cup. With this victory, India secured back-to-back titles, having also been crowned champions in the inaugural edition in 2023.

Today in Kuala Lumpur, India clinched the championship with a dominant 9-wicket victory over South Africa. Captain Niki Prasad’s team had the win all but secured after restricting the Proteas to just 82 runs, thanks to India’s brilliant bowling. Trisha led the attack, taking a team-high three wickets.

Chasing a small target, openers Ji Kamalini and Trisha put on 36 runs for the first wicket. Kamalini was dismissed for 8, but Trisha, alongside teammate Sonika, took India to victory. Trisha remained unbeaten on 44, while Sonika contributed with a boundary-laden 26 runs. For her all-round performance, Trisha was named the Player of the Match. With 309 runs and 7 wickets, she was also named the Player of the Series.
