A cow has been brought to Dhanmondi 32, the site of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s demolished residence, with plans for a feast to be held by demolishers following the destruction of the house.
After the demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house at Dhanmondi 32, people gathered from various parts of the city, brought a cow to the site late Thursday afternoon. The cow, purchased from Mohammadpur Beribad, will be slaughtered and used for a feast as part of the ongoing protest.
At around 3:00 PM Thursday, demonstrators gathered at Dhanmondi 32, shouting slogans about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. One of the organizers confirmed that the cow would be slaughtered and cooked later in the evening. The demonstrators said the message behind the act was to oppose fascism and reject the influence of the Awami League in the country.
Liberty news’ local corrspondent reports that the demolition work, which began Wednesday night, continued Thursday morning with thousands of onlookers present at the scene.
