In a bid to maintain law and order in the country, Home Advisor Lieutenant General (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has instructed law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and alert. The directive was given during his visit to four police stations in the capital on Thursday morning.
On Thursday morning, Home Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited four police stations in the capital—Mirpur, Darussalam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur—and issued instructions for law enforcement to remain vigilant and alert. Speaking to the press, he emphasized the importance of ensuring public safety, allowing people to sleep peacefully and move freely without fear.
In response to questions, he assured that officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs have been tasked with monitoring the law and order situation, alongside the police forces. He also revealed that the number of patrols and forces on duty has been increased to ensure stability.
Addressing concerns about deteriorating law and order, the Advisor warned that those causing unrest would be brought to justice. “Law enforcement agencies are fully alert, and key checkpoints in the capital are functioning well,” he added, mentioning that joint operations are progressing smoothly.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury also highlighted that law enforcement officers tend to show some slackness during early morning shifts, which could allow criminals to commit illegal activities. He instructed police to remain vigilant at all times, even during these periods.
Liberty News’ national correspondent states that, when asked about the duration of ongoing joint operations, the Home Advisor stated that these operations would continue until the situation improves, although other security measures will remain in place. Additionally, he disclosed that two police officers—an SI and a constable—had been suspended for negligence in their duties at Gulshan police station.
