BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the absence of an elected government has pushed the country into a state of indecision and uncertainty.

He emphasised that the BNP wants a quick election to restore a democratic order in Bangladesh.

He made the remarks on Saturday while speaking to journalists.

Speaking about BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s possible transfer abroad for advanced medical treatment, Khasru said that arranging an air ambulance is not a problem.

He noted that the decision ultimately depends on the medical board.

“Whether she is physically able to travel—that is the main concern. The moment the doctors decide, arranging an air ambulance will not be an issue,” he added.

Regarding Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh, Khasru said, “We know Tarique Rahman is leading the party. We expect that he will return to the country and lead us in the upcoming election. With the people’s support, we hope the BNP will form the next government, and he will lead the new cabinet.”

He further said that Tarique Rahman’s return is imminent.

“His residence is almost ready, his office work is nearly complete. All the preparations—both from the party and from his side—are in the final stages,” he said.

Khasru added that Tarique Rahman may return anytime.

“Let those who are spreading rumours continue doing so. There’s no problem with that. Rumours require people, and Bangladesh certainly has enough of them,” he remarked.
