Four individuals accused in the killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayeed during the July uprising in Rangpur were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday (15 June) in a case related to crimes against humanity.

Former Sub-Inspector Amir Hossain, Constable Sujon Chandra Roy, university Proctor Shariful Islam, and Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury Akash were brought to the tribunal in a prison van.

The hearing is being conducted by a bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumder, Chairman of the tribunal.

Earlier on 9 April, the tribunal ordered their production and instructed investigators to submit a report by 15 June in connection with the fatal shooting of Abu Sayeed during a student-led anti-discrimination protest in Rangpur.

According to the prosecution, former police officials Hossain and Roy were directly involved in the killing, while the university’s proctor and the student leader allegedly incited the attack. All four are currently in custody in other cases, and the tribunal has been requested to show them as arrested in this case as well.
