The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved the chargesheet against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members in connection with six cases of plot corruption in the Purbachal area.
On Monday (March 10), a three-member commission led by ACC Chairman Abdul Momen approved the submission of the chargesheet to the court. This marks the first time Sheikh Hasina and her family will face legal proceedings in a corruption case after a shift in political circumstances. The chargesheet includes former Housing and Public Works Minister Sharif Ahmed and Sheikh Hasina’s former APS, Mohammad Salauddin, as new accused. According to the ACC, in 2022, Sheikh Hasina and her family used their influence to secure six plots, each of 10 kathas, in the Purbachal New Town project. In January, the ACC filed six cases against Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, their children, and 14 others.
