The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched a surprise raid at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday, probing irregularities in ticket sales and alleged corruption linked to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
A special team from the ACC headquarters in Dhaka conducted the operation following reports of black-market ticket sales and financial misconduct involving security personnel and other relevant departments within the board.
According to ACC’s public relations officer, Akhtarul Islam, the raid was initiated based on several complaints regarding corruption in this year’s BPL ticket distribution process. Preliminary findings suggest the BCB earned over Tk 13 crore from ticket sales during the tournament.
The ACC is currently reviewing documents and interrogating officials as part of its investigation. Further actions will be taken if substantial evidence of corruption is found, sources said.
This move signals a strong message from the ACC regarding transparency in the country’s sports administration, especially within high-profile events like the BPL.
