ACC raids Liberation War Affairs Ministry

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs in connection with allegations of embezzlement of state funds, following the disappearance of documents related to the “Preservation and Reconstruction of Liberation War Memorials” project.

In a press release on Wednesday (March 5), ACC informed that during the raid, the relevant project records were requested. Initial findings indicated that while the project was approved by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, its implementation was the responsibility of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

The enforcement team will gather information from the LGED and verify the accuracy of the project records before submitting a detailed report to the commission.

Additionally, following allegations of embezzlement of training allowances and funds from various projects, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted an enforcement operation from its Bagerhat district office.

The ACC team visited the Bagerhat Youth Development Department and collected relevant records, including lists of trainees budget allocation documents from the responsible officials. Through a random selection process, several trainees resource persons were interviewed, revealing that they were paid less than the allocated allowances/honorariums from the budget.

Furthermore, preliminary investigations indicate the existence of fraudulent bills and vouchers created to embezzle training funds, along with other related allegations.
