Bangladeshi actor Elias Kanchan has demanded the resignation of Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, citing his failure to address the country’s deteriorating law and order situation. Kanchan made this call during a public gathering in Savar on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Elias Kanchan, the renowned actor and road safety activist, has called for the resignation of Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, accusing him of incompetence in handling the country’s worsening law and order situation. Speaking at a meeting of the “Safe Roads Movement” in Savar, Kanchan expressed his concern over the increasing incidents of murder, robbery, extortion, and rape across Bangladesh, which he claims demonstrate the Home Advisor’s failure to effectively manage security.

Kanchan remarked that despite six months of an interim government, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has not been able to prove his capability in ensuring law and order. He further criticized the advisor for refusing to step down, despite the deterioration of the law enforcement situation to critical levels. “It is clear that the current Home Advisor is unable to manage the situation, and the law and order crisis has reached an alarming stage. A competent advisor must be appointed immediately,” Kanchan asserted.

In addition to his call for the resignation, Elias Kanchan also urged drivers to remain cautious in order to reduce traffic accidents and create safer roads across the nation.

The event was attended by several key figures, including Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of “Safe Roads Movement” Liton Ershad, Organizing Secretary Abdur Rahman, Principal of Savar Government College Zahidul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Shahinur Kabir, and other prominent figures of the movement.
