A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to actress Nusrat Faria in connection with an attempted murder case filed under Vatara Police Station, following her arrest at the airport earlier this week.
The popular actress was sent to jail after being produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on Tuesday morning. She was kept in the court’s custody cell for about an hour before being taken to the courtroom, where the bail order was issued.
Nusrat Faria was arrested on Sunday morning at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while preparing to board a flight to Thailand. The arrest came in relation to a case filed by Enamul Haque, who accused her along with 282 others—including actors Apu Biswas, Nipun Akter, Ashna Habib Bhabna, and Zayed Khan—of attempted murder in connection with an Students Against Discrimination protest.
The case was initially filed in court in March and was later recorded as a First Information Report (FIR) at Vatara Police Station on April 29, following a magistrate’s order.
Aside from her film career, Nusrat Faria has also gained recognition as a singer. She debuted in 2018 with the song “Pataka” and later released other popular tracks such as “Habibi” and “Ami Chai Thakte”, which have garnered significant attention on YouTube and other social media platforms.
The court’s decision to grant bail offers temporary relief for the actress amid a high-profile legal battle involving several figures from the entertainment industry.
