Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, has urged the nation to take necessary steps to ensure the success of the upcoming international conference on the Rohingya crisis.

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called for efforts to make the upcoming international conference on the Rohingya crisis a success. His call came on Thursday, February 27, when the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, visited the State Guesthouse Jamuna.

The Chief Adviser shared this message on his verified Facebook page, urging for a successful outcome of the conference. He said, “Let’s make this successful and find a solution to the problem. I hope this conference will bring out the right solutions.”

For decades, the world has witnessed the humanitarian disaster of the Rohingya people, and the Chief Adviser emphasized the importance of bringing this issue back into the global spotlight and increasing support for the persecuted minority from Myanmar. He added, “We must ensure that a path is created for the future. We need to ensure that their future is secured.”

This international conference, organized by the United Nations later this year, has received strong support from Filippo Grandi. He remarked, “Let’s bring this issue back on the map. The UN conference is a perfect time to place the Rohingya crisis back on the agenda and work toward building trust between various communities in Rakhine.”

He also expressed his hopes that the visit of UN Secretary-General António Guterres to Bangladesh in mid-March will bring new momentum to the cause. He hopes that this visit will lead to finding sustainable solutions for the repatriation of the Rohingya refugees.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed the growing uncertainties in U.S. foreign policy and stressed the need to secure additional financial assistance for the millions of Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh’s camps.

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that also present at the meeting was the Chief Adviser’s High Representative for Rohingya Affairs, Khalilur Rahman.
