Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has stated that the interim government cannot resolve all problems quickly. He made this comment at the inaugural ceremony of the six drainage canals’ renovation project under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Sunday morning.
The government’s advisor said, “Through the Blue Network, waterlogging will be somewhat reduced. If these canals are preserved, the city of Dhaka would look different. It is not possible to solve all problems so quickly on behalf of the interim government. Therefore, we are providing some plans.”
He further added, “The Dhaka North Model plan has been taken, which will be a role model for the city.”
During the inaugural event, Environment and Forest Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated, “The dredging of the six canals will begin before the monsoon. Previously, there was a lack of coordination. But now, inter-ministerial cooperation is in place. It will take time to complete the work, but we are starting it.”
She also clarified that the work has started through the program, not under the project, and said, “The dredging of the canals will begin first. Afterward, the restoration will be done. During the restoration, many obstacles will arise, and we must face them together.”
Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan also commented, “A lot of damage has been done to the country through corruption, but from now on, we will change that.”
